About Our Founder
Nick von Gal brings over 20 years of metal fabrication expertise to every project, from large-scale government contracts to custom hobby farm solutions. As founder of Montgomery Metal Works, Nick has built his reputation on one unwavering principle: client satisfaction comes first.
Growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, Nick was surrounded by generations of makers and innovators. His grandfather, George E. von Gal, Jr., was the creative mind behind von Gal Palletizer, bringing industrial innovation to the family legacy. His father, George E. von Gal III, carried forward that inventive spirit with a love of building cars and tackling complex farm projects in Ramer, AL. His father-in-law, Joe T. Barnett, brought decades of horse farm and commercial agriculture expertise to the family's collective knowledge base.
This rich heritage of building, creating, and problem-solving in Nick's family workshop sparked his passion for metalwork and led him to discover his true calling in the fabrication industry. "I grew up finding solutions through metalwork," Nick reflects. "That foundation taught me there's always a way to build what someone needs."
A lifelong horse and agricultural supporter, Nick understands the unique needs of Alabama's farming and horse communities. His deep roots in rural Alabama, combined with decades of technical experience and family wisdom spanning industrial innovation to agricultural expertise, allow him to create solutions that are both functionally sound and visually appealing.
"I take pride in creating exactly what the customer has in mind," Nick explains. "My experience helps guide functionality and appeal, but the customer's vision always comes first."
Nick leads what he considers "the best crew in the area," a team known throughout central Alabama for their craftsmanship, reliability, and attention to detail. Behind every project is his wife, Jessica Barnett von Gal, who serves as project manager, ensuring seamless coordination from consultation to completion.
Whether it's emergency equipment repair for a local farmer or a custom barndominium for Auburn clients, Nick's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction - backed by three generations of building expertise - drives every aspect of Montgomery Metal Works.
